About

Dear LBD:MA Community,

I’m writing to announce that Learning By Design in Massachusetts (LBD:MA) has entered an exciting new partnership with the BSA Foundation (the Foundation).

We have a long history of success working with the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) to fulfill our mission of drawing on the power of architecture and design to build within each child an essential structure for learning and creating. LBD:MA began as a program of the BSA in 1999. After becoming an independent 501(c)3, we have continued to work together with the BSA to reach over 20,000 children, educators, and architects through programs such as Family Design Days at BSA Space, as well as on our most popular program, KidsBuild! Boston, which was developed by the BSA in 1992.

As of January 2015, LBD:MA programming will become the official children’s and family programming of the BSA Foundation and BSA Space.

The Foundation, formerly the Boston Foundation for Architecture (BFA), presents opportunities for architecture and design professionals to embark on an exciting new chapter of public engagement. A 501(c)3 like LBD:MA, the Foundation was established by the BSA in 1984. A frequent financial supporter of LBD:MA, the Foundation partners with the BSA to increase awareness about the impact of design and architecture on quality of life issues for individuals and communities, and to identify and implement best practices at the policy level. The Foundation is now expanding its capacity to support a wide range of programs and activities serving the public good. Its vision is to build a better Boston by engaging communities, inspiring vision, and provoking positive change.

LBD:MA will continue to offer the same excellent programming dedicated to educational quality and collaboration with a creative focus on architecture and design. In addition, we look forward to creating new programs thanks to the increased stability, reach, and impact made possible under this new partnership with the BSA Foundation.

Please look out for announcements for new and upcoming events, including the 2015 series of Family Design Days. We hope to see you there!

 Sincerely,

Justin Crane
